We have put in place arrangements which means we will carry normal and controlled drug medication from ALL of our CareHome clients and leave a proper waste transfer notes for you to satisfy the authorities with. Please note that we are unable carry sharps or other similar waste.

From time-to-time, you will have unused or date expired medication which should be safely disposed off under various regulations. There are different regulations for normal medication, controlled drugs, hazardous waste and sharps etc.
Under Waste Management Licensing Regulations, normal pharmacies are only allowed to carry medication from CareHomes that provide residential care only, providing that they meet appropriate licensing requirements. Most pharmacies choose not to offer a waste collection service from CareHomes as they do not have the requisite licenses in place.
